Kudanshita (九段下), better known by her nickname Kussie (クッシー Kusshī), is a third year student at Fujou High.

Personality

Despite Kudanshita's scary face, she has gentle, wise and cute personality that almost all of the Fujou High students knows her as dependable person and she is big sister figure beside Azuma Matsubara.

Relationships

Azuma Matsubara

Together with Matsubara, Kusshi is one of the Two Big Sisters of Fujou High. She seems to be close to Matsubara as she calls the latter by her given name, Azuma, in the second extra of Chapter 44. Azuma considers it a pity that Kusshi did not join their Student Council last year, given how capable she is in handling conflicts.

Tama Sakai

Kusshi calls Tama "Tama-chan," though this could be just a common nickname for the latter from the third-years rather than indicating a closeness between them (chapter 44 extra 2).

Despite that, Tama seems to regard Kusshi highly as the former takes Kenji Kazama to the latter's classroom for advice (chapter 60).

Ōhori and Shinozaki

They are amongst the students Kusshi has helped (chapter 44 extra 2).

Etymology

• Kudanshita means "nine" (九) (ku), "step" (段) (dan) and "under, below" (下) (shita).

Trivia

• Kudanshita made a cameo appearance almost at the end of Episode 12 where she and Azuma Matsubara were walking while talking.
